Farmers in Hailing district of the prefecture-level city of Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province are these days busy harvesting and selling grain and 14 grain collection points in the district have been opened for bringing in the crop.

At the grain repository being operated by Taizhou State Grain Repertory Co Ltd, the entire grain harvesting process has adopted intelligent machines to improve the collection speed.

The facility uses technologies such as mechanical ventilation, recirculation fumigation, electronic temperature measurements and grain cooling to ensure the good quality and safe storage of the grain.

The repertory undertakes the task of storing grain reserves at the provincial and municipal levels, receiving nearly 1,000 metric tons of grain per day.

"After the grain is garnered in, storekeepers will register the grain temperature and conditions in time to ensure the high-quality of the grain," said Lu Jianzhong, director of the company's warehouse department.

Hailing district's wheat planting area covers 80,000 mu (5,333 hectares) this year and the grain collection began in late May. As of June 13, an estimated 15,000 tons of grain had been stored.

"Joint efforts will be made by local departments to crack down on behavior that harms the interests of grain farmers and safeguards the market order of grain circulation," said Chu Wenqiang, a local official.
