Farmers got busy replanting rice seedlings on June 9 in the fields of a complete rice industry supply chain pilot plantation – located in Xinghua city, administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province.

Situated in Xingdong town, it occupies a total area of over 6,000 mu (400 hectares), with nearly 3,800 mu under cultivation.

There are seven cultivation blocks in the plantation, with one core block planted and managed by a local company and the remaining six entrusted to surrounding farming households.

Specializing in green and organic rice, the plantation is coordinating the purchase of seeds, seedling cultivation, planting, the supply of agricultural materials, plant protection and storage.

A company named Wugu Fengdeng has also been established to help promote online and on-site selling, leading local farmers towards prosperity.

As an agricultural pilot area, the base has been promoting new methods, such as fallow planting, co-farming of rice and rearing ducks, the use of manure instead of chemical fertilizer and reducing the overall use of fertilizer.

Adjacent to the renowned Qianduo Cole Flower Scenic Area, plans are for the base to establish cultural and tourism facilities such as an agricultural rice cultural experience hall and a rice-themed experience area to expand its development scope.
