Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province recently launched a new energy industry CTO, or Chief Technology Officer, alliance to promote the development of the industry, with another four alliances in planning this year.

The alliance, spearheaded by industry giants, aspires to pave the way for regularized collaborative innovation, resource-sharing, and joint technical research between various enterprises.

"We aim to overcome technical challenges, improve product quality, and aid in industrial technology upgrades in collaboration with alliance members," said Chen Cheng, head of the technical department from LONGi Solar Technology (Taizhou) Co Ltd, a leading entity in the new energy sector.

Chen underscored the pivotal role the alliance will play in promoting direct communication, fostering partnerships, nurturing talent, and leading transformative technological breakthroughs.

The city's science and technology bureau is encouraging the city's districts and county-level cities to take the lead in establishing CTO alliances based on their specialized industries.

Jiangyan district now leads the auto parts and precision manufacturing CTO Alliance, while Hailing district heads the new energy counterpart. Jingjiang, Taixing, Xinghua, and the Taizhou Medical High-Tech Zone will establish four additional specialized alliances.

They are expected to promote technical exchanges between companies of different scales, and optimize innovation and talent attraction within the industry, thus promoting the development and upgrading of the whole industry.
