The edible mushroom industry in Jiangyan Economic Development Zone – located in the Jiangyan district of Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has benefited over 4,000 villages and the local brand Sanshui Mushroom won national recognition in October.

After more than 30 years of development, mushroom cultivation in the zone now covers 1,500 mu (100 hectares), involving more than 200 professional growers.

It has become the largest mushroom production center in the province, with annual sales topping 150 million yuan ($22.12 million).

Since 2021, the Jiangyan EDZ has developed new mushroom farms covering 30 mu, built 10 intelligent constant temperature and intensive mushroom-raising greenhouses as well as 46 efficient, multi-laminated frame greenhouses.

What's more, the zone has introduced a series of seven integrated services – including centralized procurement of raw materials and centralized marketing of brands, to increase the incomes of farmers and to boost the development of the sector.

At the same time, the added value of mushrooms has been extensively developed, thanks to efforts such as the processing of mushrooms and the production of edible mushroom chips.
