In recent years, Taixing has made great efforts to protect and restore the ecological environment of the Yangtze River, helping make nearby areas hot tourist spots.

In the past, the 24-kilometer Yangtze River coastline was developed as a "gold mine" to promote local economic development, which brought environmental problems.

To improve the ecological environment, Taixing has demolished two forging factories, shut down 19 chemical factories, reclaimed 23 fish ponds, vacated 6.4 kilometers of shoreline, and restored about 200,000 square meters of the riverbank.

At the same time, Taixing has allocated more than 50 percent of the coastlines to initiate the construction of ecological wetlands and green corridors along the Yangtze River.

In Taixing, unique scenery has formed along the Yangtze River, with 2,000 mu (133 hectares) of trees, 3000 mu of wetlands, 80 mu of the tail water purification wetlands, and 18,000 mu of high standard farmlands.

Sanqiao village, which is located in the core area of the green corridor, has benefited from the tourism boom there. "The village can receive over 100 sightseeing teams every year, thus promoting the emerging homestays and farmhouses, and increasing the income for the locals," said Sanqiao village official Xia Jun.
