Taixing city expands supply of solar power to its grid

etaizhou.gov.cn| Updated: May 31, 2024

A national pilot demonstration unit for photovoltaic development, Taixing city – administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – is expanding the supply of solar power to its electricity grid.

In the first four months, the city's newly installed photovoltaic capacity was 142.85 megawatts, with a photovoltaic power generation of 157 million kilowatt hours.

Manufacturers are increasingly moving to use more solar power. At the premises of one of them – Jiangsu Tercel Logistics Equipment Co Ltd – blue solar panels have been installed on the factory roof. That's because its high electricity consumption makes reducing operating costs imperative for the company's development.

This year, the company collaborated with China Resources Power Holdings Company Limited to build a 4.2 megawatt photovoltaic power station, with an average daily power generation of around 16,000 kWh.

This photovoltaic power generation method means that enterprises install solar photovoltaic panels on their roof, which can generate electricity automatically with sunlight.

In addition to self-use, any surplus electricity can then be integrated into the city's grid, generating additional economic benefits.

As of the end of April, Taixing's photovoltaic installed capacity hit 539.89 MW.
