The Yaowang sub-district of Taixing city – administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – has rolled out an initiative to expand community and educative services to promote the appeal of Chinese culture and give locals a great time.
In a special practice area in Danxia community, volunteers recently taught children how to make pottery and told them about its history.
"Promoting and popularizing handicrafts can take place at community practice spaces – enabling more people to boost their understanding and recognition of traditional culture," said Liu Yan, head of the station in Danxia community.
Elsewhere in Yaodai village, five new era civilization lecturers were selected for their performance in recent years. They'll conduct lecture tours of villages, campuses and businesses to spread civilization concepts.
In addition, residents can benefit from a wide range of volunteer courses in such tasks as carpet cleaning and knife sharpening.
A teaching skills station there serves as a platform for locals to offer services for those in need, helping residents solve small but important issues in their daily lives.
