With the Chinese New Year holiday fast approaching, Yaowang sub-district of Taixing city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, recently hosted a series of celebrations to add to the festive vibe.
On Jan 20, Yaowang's Hubin community held an intangible cultural heritage activity featuring hands-on picture rubbing for children.
The origin of rubbing, the history of rubbing techniques, the types of rubbing and the materials and tools used were introduced during the event.
Then, children picked up their rubbing tools and carefully printed the various shapes of "Fu" characters with golden paint.
The same day, Antai community also held a Chinese New Year celebration, attracting the participation of lots of children and their parents.
The kids were more than happy to make tanghulu, or sugar-coated fruit on a stick, wrap syrup, and chat with each other to convey New Year's greetings.

On Jan 21, a celebration featuring fun activities such as lacquer fan making, Chinese knot weaving and paper cuttings was held. Each area attracted locals to stop and participate, sparking laughter and cheers.
