The Double Ninth Festival, also known as Chongyang Festival, a day to honor and show respect for the elderly, fell on Oct 29 this year. To celebrate, Xingtai Community of Yaowang sub-district, Taixing, Jiangsu province, launched a series of activities for the elderly.
The community cooperated with professional ophthalmic medical institutions to popularize science knowledge about daily eye disease prevention and treatment.

In addition to conducting science popularization lectures, medical volunteers also provided free basic eye screening, covering vision testing and initial eye pressure examination.
The volunteer team from Chinese e-commerce platform JD.com made freshly cooked grains and soybean milk to the elderly on site. They also brought clothing care machines to take care of the elderly's autumn and winter clothes for free.
The Chunyu Charity brought books for the elderly to read, covering categories such as health preservation, classic literature, and historical stories.
Gifts were also given to elderly people who participated in activities, adding to the excitement.
