Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone held a conference recently to promote its high-quality development this year.

The current plan is to accelerate construction of a modern industrial zone with upgraded facilities.

Regional GDP and fixed-asset investment are both expected to jump at least 8 percent in 2023 with the revenue from the general public budgets projected to climb by over 22 percent.

The zone also aims to sign more than 60 projects worth 100 million yuan ($14.50 million) each this year.

The 20-year-old zone has gradually developed into one of the top EDZs in the province, and is now moving towards national EDZ status, said Liu Zhaohui, an official who helps manage operations there.

Moving forward, the zone will strive to construct a "1+2+3" modern industrial system and reach an industrial scale of 35 billion yuan this year, with the auto industry's output tipped to exceed 25 billion yuan.

In terms of upgrading, the zone will carry out more than 15 projects in the field of intelligent and digital transformation this year, with each costing over 3 million yuan.
