To make things better and even entertaining for commuters during the Spring Festival travel rush, Xuzhuang sub-district – located in the Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province – recently introduced an imaginative initiative.
It organized a volunteer service activity at the Gaogang North Railway Station Passenger Terminal, to help out and amuse the travelers.
Volunteers at the event offered hot cups of ginger tea to returning hometown travelers and passersby, providing a welcome respite from the winter chill.
Calligraphy enthusiasts added a touch of artistry by creating scrolls of couplets and the character fu – which means good fortune – filled with heartfelt New Year blessings, which they shared with passengers.

Dressed in distinctive red vests, the volunteers provided various services – including providing information and guidance, luggage assistance, health check-ups and even anti-fraud awareness.
The thoughtful initiative was widely said to bring a sense of warmth and the special "Xuzhuang touch" to the large number of passengers passing through.
