The second phase of Susa Food Co Ltd's health drinks plant broke ground in the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – on Feb 25.
Susa Food is a manufacturer focused on the production, sales and research and development of plant-based protein beverages. Since settling in the zone in 2014, it's become a top player in China's health beverage industry.
The second phase is a major deal for the company, with a hefty investment of 1 billion yuan ($138.99 million). It involves constructing four new production workshops and setting up six state-of-the-art automatic sterile beverage production lines.
Once everything is up and running, the facility is projected to produce 30 million cases of coconut beverage annually. The expansion will also bring in an extra 800 million yuan in sales each year and contribute 40 million yuan in taxes.
