The economy of Xinghua – the county-level city, administered by the prefecture-level city of Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – remains stable to positive, with regional GDP last year estimated at 110 billion yuan ($16 billion), up 5 percent.

Xinghua was selected as one of China's top 100 cities in terms of its overall strength in 2022, as well as being one of the top 100 industrial cities in the country.

The city's construction industry generated a total output value of 65.3 billion yuan, up 15 percent on the previous year.

One company – Xing Da Co Ltd – received an outstanding award for its contribution to Jiangsu's manufacturing.

Elsewhere, Xinghua's stainless-steel trade demonstration area and its Heng Xing science and technology park were listed as 2022 provincial projects in the service industry.

What's more, the city has newly developed high-standard farmlands covering 33,000 mu (2,200 hectares) and has created 60 high-quality and efficient demonstration areas for grain and oil.

Last year, the total grain output of Xinghua was 1,243,600 metric tons, ranking it second in the province.

What's more, it has staged a raft of tourism activities, for its visitors to enjoy such diverse delights as crabs and chrysanthemums. It also held a selection activity for the 5th Shi Naian Literature Prize.
