Dainan science park in Xinghua – a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – was recently honored as a demonstration base in utilizing urban waste resources.
It performed well in recycling resources, such as retired mechanical and electrical equipment, utility wires, home appliances, as well as plastics and rubber.
The park is renowned in the province for its stainless steel industry. In 2019, it achieved a regional GDP of 26.38 billion yuan ($3.82 billion) and an industrial output value of 16.24 billion yuan above designated size – industrial firms with an annual business turnover of at least 20 million yuan – accounting for 29.2 percent and 32.14 percent of Xinghua city's total, respectively.
It has a high-tech industry output value of 9.38 billion yuan, accounting for 46.1 percent of the industrial output value of Xinghua enterprises above designated size.
In addition, the park is currently home to 138 companies above designated size. Among them, the industrial billing sales of 14 companies have exceeded 100 million yuan.
Six industrial clusters have been formed in the park, covering stainless steel products, radial steel cord for automotive tires, automotive accessories, bicycle accessories, labor protection products, and the light textile industry.
