Xinghua city–administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province–has been promoting its rice harvest and planting work as the recent cluster of sunny days has proven a golden time for those engaged in agricultural work.

Xinghua's Shagou town has 6,500 mu (433 hectares) of ripe rice among a total rice-planting area of 51,500 mu. This has helped local farmers achieve an average income per mu ranging from 1,800 to 2,100 yuan ($246 to $287).

"The average yield of rice per mu in the city is around 650 kilograms. As we have a total yield of 800,000 metric tons, we are expecting a bumper year," said Wang Zhengbo, a local agronomist.

Agricultural technology experts say now is a prime time to sow mature rice from the summer.

Wang Zhiyong, an official from Xinghua's bureau of agriculture and rural affairs, said over 2,000 mu of land has been sown using all-in-one sowing machines.
