The Qianduo Scenic Area in Xinghua city, located in East China's Jiangsu province, has recently seen its glorious chrysanthemums come into full bloom, bringing local villagers the joys of the harvest.

They began picking chrysanthemums in the scenic area in early October. But right now, the villagers are even busier with the arrival of the mass harvesting period.

"We're picking flowers in the scenic area every day these days and we are quite happy. Everyone can earn 150 yuan ($20.71) per day," said Zhai Honglan, a local villager.

The core area for chrysanthemum cultivation in the scenic area covers over 66.67 hectares and the crop is mainly divided into ornamental chrysanthemums and commercial chrysanthemums. The latter is a chrysanthemum variety with economic value, used for processing and making tea drinks and medicinal raw materials.

"Currently, about 20 metric tons of commercial chrysanthemums can be harvested every day," said the manager responsible for planting in the scenic area.

Looking ahead, the scenic area plans to extend the deep processing of chrysanthemums, so the flowers can realize more commercial and ecological value and benefits.
