Sixteen intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items from Xinghua city, administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, were recently included among the latest additions to the representative list of intangible cultural heritage items in Taizhou.
The ICH items are spread across multiple categories, including traditional art, traditional skills, and folk customs. They include Xinghua's clay sculpture, paper cutting, and farmer painting.
Dedicated efforts have been made by Xinghua to scale up the protection of ICH, with a series of promotional activities held in schools, communities, blocks, and scenic spots.
At present, Xinghua has 124 ICH items at all levels, including three national-level items, 12 provincial-level items, and 40 items at the Taizhou level.
The city is now home to 115 ICH practitioners at all levels, including two national-level practitioners and four provincial-level practitioners.
