Special effects man Sun Shiyu, from Xinghua city, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently proudly engaged in helping to create the recent animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2".
In fact, the exciting special effects of battle scenes between Ne Zha and Shiji Niangniang, or Lady Rocky, were fully produced by Shanghai Wanguang Cultural Media, a Shanghai based company founded by Sun.
The company is one of the 138 animation companies behind the production of "Ne Zha 2".
The five-minute special effects shot include complex effects such as flames, fragmentation, fire lotus flowers, nuclear explosions and burning smoke.
The company adopted the "full deep process" production method, synthesizing dozens of layers of design elements such as mountains, trees, stone debris and dust through deep information synthesis.
This single segment alone consumed 200T of data storage space.
Sun, who is also the company's visual effects director, said that it took one year for the company to finish the five-minute special effects sequence, completing about 80 percent of the work in half a year and polishing the details in the remaining six months.
With the success of special effects films like "Ne Zha 2", more capital will be attracted to invest in this field in the future, promoting the iterative development of the entire industry, Sun added.
