Taizhou's port economy delivered a strong performance in the first half of 2025. From January to June, the city handled 226.39 million metric tons of cargo, marking a year-on-year increase of 2.5 percent.

Inland ports were a major contributor, with cargo throughput reaching 19.94 million tons, up 18.5 percent, and container throughput hitting 50,400 TEUs, up 22.9 percent.

A key driver of this growth is the Unibr Terminal in Jiangyan district, which began operations in 2020. As Taizhou's first inland container terminal, it features three specialized container berths, three waiting berths, and a modern yard capable of storing 558 standard containers at the same time. The terminal operates seven self-owned container barges, each with a capacity of 64 TEUs and a service frequency of up to 18 sailings per month, creating an efficient water transportation network.

Li Bing, chairman of Jiangsu Uni-Benefit Int'l Logistics (Unibr), states that the terminal has linked international shipping lines like ONE and ZIM with Taizhou exporters. This connection allows goods from Jiangyan to access both domestic and global markets, offering global supply chain support to local businesses and greatly lowering logistics costs through its sophisticated operational model.

In the first half of this year alone, the terminal handled 27,329 TEUs, marking a 60 percent year-on-year increase and setting a record since its launch.

Another major contributor, CCCC Xinghua Port, also achieved impressive results. By the end of June, it had handled 1.16 million tons of dry bulk cargo and 23,000 TEUs, a 27.1 percent increase year-on-year.

Taizhou's inland ports are developing into a comprehensive port cluster that combines cargo handling, logistics, waterfront development, and grain security, promoting high-quality growth in the region's waterborne economy.
