The Qianduo Scenic Area in Xinghua, Jiangsu province, opened its crab-tasting and chrysanthemum-viewing event on Sept 19, inviting visitors to enjoy a seasonal combination of flowers and river crabs.
This year the scenic area upgraded its flower landscapes, selecting small chrysanthemum varieties with long blooming periods and bright colors, and pairing them with golden silk chrysanthemums, ground-cover chrysanthemums, and cosmos.
Chrysanthemums are blooming across about 1,000 mu (67 hectares) of raised fields, with their colors mirrored in the surrounding waterways.

New highlights include a wave-shaped raised-field design and a themed experience that links flower viewing with crab tasting. A giant peacock topiary made of different chrysanthemums stands like a bird spreading its tail, becoming a popular photo spot.
Visitors can tour the waterways by boat or stroll along winding wooden boardwalks through the flowers, taking in the autumn scenery.
