The Jiangsu Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development has announced the 2026 demonstration projects focused on characteristic countryside construction. Dongjiang community in Yonganzhou town, Taizhou Medical High-tech Zone, Taizhou, Jiangsu province, is included in this initiative.
Dongjiang community, with a planned area of 52.66 hectares, is known for its fishing culture. It has established a fishing shore memory museum, preserving the historical memories of fishermen coming ashore and continuing the cultural heritage of fishing families.
The community has established a 4.67-hectare technology-based pufferfish breeding base, with an annual output value exceeding 10 million yuan ($1.48 million). It has also deployed special catering and leisure fishing formats to promote the integrated development of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.
The 7.33-hectare nursery stock forest land in the community is planted with landscape tree species, including ginkgo trees, with an average annual benefit of 1.08 million yuan.
