Situated in Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province, Taizhou Suzhong Horticulture Co Ltd – operator of the biggest and most integrated intelligent greenhouse demonstration applications base in Asia – is continuing to explore new development paths.
The intelligent greenhouse owns many advanced and intelligent types of equipment, including its ecological green and efficient cultivation technology system. It's also got what it calls the full-scene, distributed 5G intelligent digital agriculture integration application.
The intelligent greenhouse uses reverse osmosis treatment technology for irrigation, which helps the irrigated flowers to avoid pests and disease, as well develops better plant types that grow ever more colorful.
Since the construction of a 210,000 square-meter modern horticultural industrial park there in 2020, the annual production of flowers has increased from over 300,000 pots to 2.5 million pots. What's more, the production capacity has doubled eight times within two years, said general manager Sun Jianrong.
In recent years, the company also established the first exhibition hall in China featuring flower culture to integrate the flower industry into general culture and tourism. Over 70 events have been held there this year, including research tours and parent-child flower picking.
"Looking ahead, we will invest 51.6 million yuan ($7.07 million) in improving the intelligent control levels of the entire process – from breeding to the sales of the base," Sun added.
The move is expected to save 5.8 million yuan in labor, energy, medicines, fertilizers and water costs annually.
