The total value of foreign trade imports and exports in Jingjiang – a county-level city administered by Taizhou, in East China's Jiangsu province – soared 29.4 percent in the first three quarters of the year to 25.48 billion yuan ($3.59 billion).
Exports brought in 20.36 billion yuan, reflecting a 47.3 percent year-on-year increase.
Key products in foreign trade are reported to have shown significant growth. Exports of fabricated ships for the first three quarters sustained substantial expansion, increasing by over 43 percent.
Most vessel types that were exported were container ships, bulk carriers and tankers. The completion and delivery of the new ships is said to have allowed Jingjiang's foreign trade to stand out and achieve bright results.
According to customs statistics, the import and export value between Jingjiang city and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 5.3 billion yuan in the period, showing a 7.5 percent year-on-year increase.
Moreover, efforts have been made to strengthen foreign trade services. Through in-depth activities, research and analysis of foreign trade pillar industries and key enterprises have been conducted.
Attention has been paid to the production needs of enterprises – and practical measures have been taken to address development issues being faced by foreign trade enterprises.
Furthermore, efforts to promote preferential policies on origin visas for businesses have been continued, ensuring that they can enjoy the "optimal combination of benefits."
In the first three quarters, Jingjiang Customs issued 1,714 certificates of origin of various kinds, with the visa revenue topping $100 million.
