COFCO Jingjiang Port, located in the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jingjiang, Jiangsu province, began trial operations on May 8. On the same day, a promotion conference focusing on the port was also held.
As a national grain logistics system development project, the port combines warehousing, logistics, trading, management, finance, and quality inspection, with businesses involved in corn, millet, rice, and soybeans.
The port aims to create a comprehensive grain service terminal for the Yangtze River Basin with an annual grain throughput capacity of up to 13 million metric tons.
Leading enterprises, experts and scholars in the national grain and oil industry, as well as port logistics companies, gathered to share their insights, helping Jingjiang expand and strengthen the grain and oil port industry.
Shen Qiang, an official of Jingjiang, said that he hopes that COFCO, an international agricultural and food company, will bring trading settlement, supply chain finance and other resources in Jingjiang. He also expressed hope that the two sides will work together to expand into new fields such as deep processing of grain and oil products and health food, helping grow Jingjiang's grain and oil industry cluster.
During the conference, eight port enterprises jointly signed a cooperation initiative for high-quality port development, while five enterprises signed an agreement to deepen cooperation in port and shipping coordination.
