CITIC Pacific's Jingjiang Special Steel Co - Jingjiang Taifu New Energy Co recently grid-connected a 120 megawatt/240 megawatt-hour user-side energy storage station.
This represents the largest grid-forming user-side energy storage project in the steel sector both within Jiangsu province and nationally, providing a replicable model for green transition in energy-intensive industries.
Steelmaking requires an extremely stable and continuous power supply. The application of grid-forming storage technology effectively handles impact loads with advantages like operational flexibility, rapid activation, and significant dynamic benefits.
When fully operational, the facility will deliver 120,000 kilowatt of total power capacity, storing 240,000 kilowatt-hour of electricity, which is sufficient to power 30,000 households for one day.
In addition, it will enable annual absorption of 168 million kWh of green electricity, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 51,500 metric tons, which is equivalent to planting 2.8 million trees.
