Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jingjiang, Taizhou, Jiangsu province, experienced impressive growth in the first three quarters, with fixed asset investments exceeding 9 billion yuan ($1.26 billion), marking a hefty increase of 179.5 percent year-on-year.
From January to September, the industrial output value produced by enterprises above a designated size in the zone exceeded 38 billion yuan, representing a 27.17 percent year-on-year increase. The total value of imports and exports in goods exceeded 3 billion yuan, representing a 17.2 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Additionally, the zone secured 37 new projects, each worth over 100 million yuan, including 27 projects exceeding 500 million yuan, with growth rates of 9 percent and 50 percent, respectively. Notably, 17 new projects worth over 500 million yuan were started, representing a 42 percent increase from last year, while 12 such projects were completed, doubling last year's total.
The high-tech shipbuilding industry is accelerating its transformation, led by New Times Shipbuilding, with a focus on developing green, low-carbon vessels. Currently, 60 percent of the company's orders are for high-value-added new energy ships, with a goal of delivering 30 vessels this year and projecting sales to exceed 20 billion yuan. Additionally, Jiangsu Duokai Power Machinery has secured an order for 11 engines worth 320 million yuan, with plans to deliver 22 engines and achieve sales of over 600 million yuan this year.
The biopharmaceutical industry is also set for growth. Aland's nutritional gummy project has started operations, with a potential annual capacity of 5 billion gummies, generating 450 million yuan in sales. Meanwhile, Jland Meditech obtained licenses for medical devices, ensuring full production capacity for all their lines.
In advanced equipment manufacturing, leading companies such as China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group and Jingjiang Heavy Industries are enhancing their smart manufacturing capabilities. Furthermore, Jingjiang Special Steel's low-carbon metallurgy project is making progress, supporting the zone's industrial economy.
