In recent years, the Jingjiang Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jingjiang, Jiangsu province, has adhered to the goal of empowering industrial iteration and upgrading with green power applications.
Taking the opportunity of creating a national-level green factory, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group Jingjiang Heavy Industry has revitalized 47,000 square meters of idle roofs in office buildings, production workshops, and parking sheds, to build a 5.09-megawatt roof distributed photovoltaic project.
The project is expected to achieve full capacity grid connection by the end of August. The annual power generation of the project can reach 4.5 million kilowatt-hours, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 3,000 metric tons a year.
Jingjiang Special Steel is the implementing entity of China's first national demonstration project for short process steelmaking using near zero carbon emission electric furnaces.
It has innovatively practiced the low-carbon production mode involving 100 percent green electricity, 100 percent scrap steel, and a super electric furnace, embarking on a new path of green transformation in the special steel industry.

Shenzhen International Jingjiang Port boasts the largest total capacity and highest power generation of dock-based photovoltaic power plants in Jiangsu. The company has covered the distributed photovoltaic power generation system on the roof of the fully enclosed silo and the roof of the belt conveyor corridor, building a low-carbon model of self-use and surplus electricity for grid connection.
While expanding the production and usage of green electricity, the zone also strives to reduce industrial carbon emissions.
The Guoxin Jingjiang 2 × 1-million-kilowatt unit expansion project, newly put into operation in January, adopts internationally advanced ultra supercritical secondary reheating coal-fired power generation technology to control the standard coal consumption to 250 grams per kilowatt-hour. This has reached the advanced level of similar units in China.
