Manufacturer Wincell Insulation Co Ltd – located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing city, administered by Taizhou city in East China's Jiangsu province – presides over a very special, cutting-edge production facility that represents the way forward.
It operates a provincial-level 5G fully connected factory, said to be the first one of its kind in Taixing.
The term 5G fully connected factory refers to a plant that is fully utilizing the integration of new generation information and communications technologies represented by 5G, to create new industrial internet infrastructure and to build or renovate production sites.
With the help of advanced technologies such as industrial internet platforms, cloud computing and big data, the company has established a dozen 5G+ industrial internet applications scenarios.
This enables technical and management personnel to oversee various data indicators at any given time.
"The transformation of production lines by 5G can achieve real-time feedback on remote equipment production status, quality information and other situations – providing effective assistance for further process optimization and lean production in the future," said Dai Jiping, information manager of the company.
As a result, the group's production efficiency has increased by over 45 percent, labor has decreased by 47 percent and the product inventory has decreased by 25 percent.
Plans are for the company to promote 5G applications in warehousing, warehouse building and other areas in the next three to five years, said Zhang Hao, CIO of the company.
