LPG tanker Ineos Marlin, with a carrying capacity topping 51,312 metric tons of ethane, berthed on Jan 9 at the SP Chemicals Terminal in Taixing city, located in East China's Jiangsu province.
This vessel, boasting a length of 231.57 meters and a width of 36.6 m, features four independent C-type cargo holds, making it a dominant force in the global ethane transportation sector.
To ensure the successful mooring of the vessel, both the local authorities in Taixing city and the maritime departments along the Yangtze River – under the unified coordination and leadership of the Jiangsu Maritime Safety Administration – were meticulous in their planning and execution. That was to guarantee the absolute safety of the vessel's navigating, anchorage and operations in the Jiangsu section of the Yangtze River.
With the rapid development of light hydrocarbon projects in the city, the demand for ethane, a key raw material for the sector, has significantly increased.
To ensure a smooth supply chain, the local maritime authorities have taken proactive measures to provide safety maintenance and "zero waiting time" service, greatly enhancing the supply chain.
Throughout the year 2024, over 80 LPG carriers of 50,000 tons or so berthed and departed from Taixing.
