The 2025 Fluorine Materials Innovation and Application Development Seminar was held in Taizhou city, East China's Jiangsu province, for the first time from March 13 to 14.
The seminar was hosted by the China Association of Fluorine and Silicone Industry. Manufacturer Taixing Meilan New Materials, located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing city, which is administered by Taizhou city, was one of the co-organizers.
A total of 120 professors, experts and representatives from 91 research institutes, engaged in fluorine chemicals research and development across the country, gathered at the event.
They conducted exchanges and discussions on new technologies, products and applications in China's fluorine chemicals industry.
Zhang Jianjun, honorary chairman of the association, said that China's fluorine chemicals industry has formed the largest scale in the world.
However, it was facing problems such as a surplus of middle and low-end products and insufficient high-end products, and it needed to cope with international compliance and environmental policy challenges.
Zhang highlighted the need for collaboration between industry, academia, research and application in order to promote structural adjustments.
Zhu Weixiang, vice-mayor of the Taixing local government, said that the city has strong industrial strengths and it had established six industrial clusters, with the new material industry as the leading sector.
He predicted that more entrepreneurs would choose Taixing to jointly advance the development of the new material industry cluster.
