The tracked high flow emergency drainage robot produced by Jiangsu Yatai Pump & Valve, located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone, Taixing, Jiangsu province, has seen a surge in orders this year.

The uptick came after the product was included in the key promotion and guidance catalogue of advanced practical technologies by the Ministry of Water Resources at the end of last year.

Sales of the robot exceeded 4 million yuan ($580,788) in January and are expected to reach 14 million yuan in the first quarter, exceeding the total sales of last year, said Chang Lei, general manager of the company.

Against the backdrop of intensified global climate change and frequent floods, emergency drainage has become a key way to ensure the safety of cities and their people.

"Similar devices on the market mostly rely on hydraulic drives, meaning they are limited by the length of hydraulic pipes and have a water intake distance of generally no more than 20 meters. They also have complex structures and experience frequent failures," said Jiang Wenjunm, deputy chief engineer of the company.

"The robot developed by our company can not only operate for 8,000 hours without error but also increase the intake distance to over 100 meters, with a maximum diving depth of up to 5 meters," added Jiang.

Since 2024, this product has showcased its capabilities in many provinces such as Zhejiang, Anhui, and Hubei. Thanks to its excellent performance, the company has received orders from water resources departments in more than 10 cities across the country since the beginning of this year.
