The Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing, Jiangsu province, has invested over 2 billion yuan ($292.84 million) in promoting the integrated governance plan of source control, time-based and classified collection of pipeline networks, deep treatment of sewage plants and improvement of river water quality purification, solving the problem of sewage treatment.
The governance plan adopts a combination of pre-treatment and centralized treatment, which can lead to a reduction of about 80 percent in both the investment and operational costs of sewage treatment facilities.
In the zone, the production wastewater from Nengdian (Jiangsu) Nano New Materials and Soudal High Performance Materials has been collected through pipelines and routed to a sewage treatment plant for advanced processing, ensuring that discharge standards are met.

So far, 117 enterprises in the zone have connected to the sewage treatment plant.
By building an information collection and control platform based on 5G, wireless networks and dedicated lines, the zone has enabled more precise, efficient adjustment of process parameters.
Since its operation, the industrial sewage treatment plant in the zone has treated 25 million metric tons of sewage, reducing the total amount of pollutants, including chemical oxygen demand, total nitrogen and total phosphorus, amounting to over 2,000 tons annually.
