Taixing in East China's Jiangsu province is making significant strides in sustainable industrial development, particularly within its chemical industry, a key sector of the city for green growth.

Aligned with China's goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the city has been actively promoting the green transformation of chemical enterprises in recent years, fostering a group of benchmark green manufacturing companies in the process.

Taixing Meilan New Materials, a leading company for the development and production of organic fluorine products, is at the forefront of this transformation. The company is upgrading its products towards low-carbon, non-phasing-out options and pioneering the industrial application of fourth-generation refrigerants, setting a new standard for low-carbon transformation.

Notably, the company has introduced incineration equipment from France to address pollution risks and capacity limitations associated with traditional fluorochemical products. Subsequent installations have been developed domestically, achieving international standards and promoting industry-wide application.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period, Taixing prioritized green development, establishing a full-chain service system that includes energy control, carbon efficiency evaluation, and financial support.

This system, driven by the energy budget management platform and the "Carbon Efficiency Code" platform, encourages enterprises to save energy and reduce carbon emissions.

The city has established two national-level green industrial parks, nine national-level green factories and more, resulting in a 29.53 percent reduction in energy consumption per unit of industrial added value.

Moving forward, Taixing aims to meet its carbon peak targets during the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period by enhancing energy efficiency and accelerating the adoption of green technologies, equipment, processes, and products, said Cai Yunfu, deputy director of Taixing's bureau of industry and information technology.
