The Taixing Economic Development Zone Waterworks Comprehensive Building, located in Taixing, a county-level city administered by Taizhou, Jiangsu province, has been completed and put into use.
It is the first ultra-low energy green building in Taizhou, providing a replicable model for the green and low-carbon transformation of China's construction industry.
With a floor area of 2,687 square meters, the building integrates exhibition, conference, restaurant, and dormitory functions.
Unlike ordinary buildings, this project draws on Switzerland's advanced experience in the zero-carbon field. It has tailored a full-lifecycle zero-carbon solution to the local climate characteristics of being hot and humid in summer and cold and dry in winter.

"We adopt prefabricated construction, reduce carbon emissions and shorten construction periods, and use passive technologies such as high-performance maintenance structures, as well as active technologies such as fresh air, heat recovery, and high-efficiency energy-saving equipment to reduce energy consumption," said Lu Xueyun, deputy general manager of China Construction Taixing Water Service.
Lu added that the project also utilizes water and electricity synergy, adopting technologies such as roof and facade photovoltaics and fully electric kitchens for recycling and reuse to achieve zero sewage discharge and ultimately connect to a zero-carbon comprehensive management platform, building a complete zero carbon technology system.
Based on data testing, the building's energy saving rate is 56.63 percent, and the renewable energy substitution rate is 100 percent.
The project has obtained the zero-carbon building evaluation certificate and zero energy consumption building certificate issued by the China Association of Building Energy Efficiency, becoming one of the few double certified public buildings in the country.
