The Taixing Economic Development Zone Pilot Test Technology Incubator, an industrial park that has already underwent the completion approval process, is currently a favored platform for the commercialization of achievements by many scientific research institutions.
In April 2023, the Taixing Economic Development Zone in Taixing, Jiangsu province, invested 500 million yuan ($74.51 million) to launch construction on the incubator. The goal is to solve the difficulties for enterprises in the pilot stage of research and development achievements in the chemical and new materials industries.
The first batch of projects has already been established in the zone, including the pilot production line of Vegematerials New Materials Technology (Taizhou), located in the incubator's Building 8. Once the production procedures are completed, pilot production can begin.
As the first Chinese company to carry out innovative research and development using palm oil by-products as raw materials, Vegematerials has overcome the bottleneck of efficient conversion technology for low unsaturation palm oil.
"In the pilot production stage, we can benefit from a three-year rent-free policy, and we have well-equipped wastewater and exhaust gas treatment infrastructure to help complete the pilot production process, so we can fully verify product performance and process stability," said Shao Peng, the company's production director.
The incubator focuses on attracting projects in fields such as high-end polymers, electronic chemicals, and new energy materials. It can simultaneously accommodate 20 pilot projects.
The first four projects have been settled in for equipment installation, while the second batch of four projects have been approved and filed for approval. The feasibility study reports for the third batch of two projects are currently being prepared.
