The Taixing Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – has moved to transform its idle industrial land into productive land, with 770 mu (51 hectares) overall reused last year.

That accounted for 80 percent of newly added industrial land in the zone in 2022. In addition, the average tax revenue per mu in the zone increased from 173,000 yuan ($25,167) to 240,000 yuan, a rise of 39 percent.

To promote its effective economic development, the zone has developed its working land supply chain. Judging the quality and value of projects from multiple perspectives, prioritizing the activation of land stock for major projects and setting output targets for new projects has been included.

Currently, a 1-billion-yuan project invested by Suzhou Recodeal Connection System Co Ltd is under construction on 168 mu of land previously leased by Jiangsu Yangtai Electronics Co Ltd, which was left idle.

The development conditions of the two companies were similar – reducing the costs and shortening the construction period of the first company, said zone official Wang Yong.

During the conversion of the idle land, the zone also enforced targeted cleanups at companies that did not meet pollutant discharge standards. At the same time, it undertook active moves to attract high-quality and production-oriented service industry projects, in a bid to further develop its industrial ecosystem.
