Taizhou rated as candidate on Internet Celebrity City list

In a report by the Beijing News Think-Tank, the prefecture-level city of Taizhou – located in East China's Jiangsu province – was recognized in the country as one of the top 50 candidate Internet Celebrity Cities for 2024, recently securing 38th position.

According to the report, Taizhou's tourism sector has experienced a significant upsurge in popularity, particularly during the Qingming holiday.

During the break, it welcomed a staggering 2.524 million visitors, generating tourism revenue of 1.64 billion yuan ($226.41 million).

One of the highlights mentioned in the report was the opening ceremony of the 2024 Qintong Boat Festival, which was staged on April 6.

The ceremony attracted thousands of guests and tourists from both China and abroad. Attendees were treated to a vibrant display of folk culture and witnessed the wonderful spectacle of the organizers called the "world's largest water temple fair".

What's more, the account highlighted the growing interest in Taizhou among travelers.

Searches for the keyword of Taizhou on the popular Ctrip app saw a remarkable increase of over 320 percent in March compared with the previous month. To top it off, the city's water rapeseed flower fields  claimed top spot for spring flower viewings on the Ctrip app.

In addition to its cultural attractions, Taizhou is widely said to offer a diverse culinary scene that tempts the taste buds of visitors.

From the exquisite Meilan banquet to local delicacies like Shagou fish balls and small Xuanbao wontons, the city promises a culinary adventure like no other.

With its rich history, dynamic culture and terrific culinary delights, Taizhou is expected to become a prominent Internet Celebrity City in the coming years.
