Over 40 types of rare birds have been spotted this spring at Xumahuang Wetland scenic spot in Xinghua, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, adding vitality to the amazing ecological scenery.

The original ecological environment of the spot attracted a large variety of birds, including the first-class protected animal Oriental White Stork and many other key protected wild animals.

Since 1988, Xinghua started the ecological restoration of Xumahuang to restore its original scenery and environment.

A major part of its ecological restoration efforts is reducing the flow of humans to make animals and plants enjoy a more peaceful environment, said local official Shen Yonggan.

People can now only take a boat to arrive to the depths of Xumahuang, which is the best way to meet both the needs of observation and protection.

Elsewhere in Lixia River Wetland Park of Xinghua, 208 types of birds can be found there. The park has built a swamp forest, a herbaceous swamp, and a lake swamp, which are three areas that attract a wide variety of birds.
