Tushan village, an ancient settlement in Dalun town, Jiangyan district, has invested more than 13 million yuan ($1.92 million) in recent years in making the countryside more beautiful and comfortable to live in as part of its broader push for rural vitalization.
A number of scenic spots have been built, including a folk culture park, Wenhao Academy, Tushan Old Street, a lotus pond, and a vegetable garden.
Infrastructure upgrades have also been completed, such as landscaping along main roads, improvements to the signage system, and the renovation of public restrooms.

What is particularly noteworthy is that a once-abandoned ditch has been transformed into a 20-mu (1.33 hectares) lotus pond, which has recently become a popular attraction, with footpaths allowing visitors to enjoy the lotus flowers up close. The sale of lotus flowers and seed pods has created a new source of revenue for the village.
In recent years, Tushan village has been named a traditional village, a beautiful and harmonious village, and a demonstration village for distinctive rural development in Jiangsu province.
