German testing and certification company TUV Rheinland issued a safety certification for the R-290 production line of Jiangsu GMO High-tech, located in Jingjiang, Jiangsu province, on Aug 18, marking the company's international access to the high-end European market.
The company has become the first in China to obtain dual certification from TUV for concealed safety ventilation and flexible compatibility with a full range of flammable refrigerants.
As a new generation of refrigerants with low environmental impact, R290 (refrigerant-grade propane) is a key direction for the heat pump industry to achieve a green transformation. However, R290 is flammable and imposes stringent requirements on the explosion-proof safety of production environments.

Zhu Qingguo, chairman of GMO, said that his company began developing R290 heat pump products as early as 10 years ago and has been leading in China in entering the Australian market in this field.
Last October, the company's R290 refrigerant heat pump production line was put into operation. The company is projected to build and put into operation a brand new R290 heat pump production line in October this year.
The industry believes that the TUV safety certification for GMO is not only an upgrade to its own production capacity but also provides replicable safety production management experience for China's R290 heat pump industry, which will help more heat pump products in China to comply with overseas regulations.
