From January to August, the total import and export trade value of Jingjiang, Jiangsu province, reached 36.61 billion yuan ($5.47 billion), continuing to maintain positive growth compared to the same period in 2025.

This showed that the intelligent manufacturing capabilities of the city's leading industries — high-tech ships, automotive parts, mechanical equipment, metal materials and products — continued to improve and climb towards new heights.

Jingjiang is the largest private shipbuilding base and a national-level ship export base in China. Since the beginning of this year, the development momentum of the city's shipbuilding industry has been strong.

Especially from Aug 17 to 25, eight newly built ships were delivered successively in Jingjiang, demonstrating the strong foundation of the city's shipbuilding industry.

Exports of the city's metal materials and mechanical equipment industries grew by 41.12 percent and 16.31 percent, respectively.

In addition, industries such as health, new energy, and optoelectronics are developing rapidly, while the proportion of high-tech product imports and exports steadily increase.

While maintaining the market share of traditional trade in the EU, the United States, ASEAN and other countries, Jingjiang's enterprises have also deeply explored the markets in countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS grouping.
