A farming culture-themed study tour has been launched in Dongluo village in Xinghua, a county-level city in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, allowing students to immerse themselves in rural history, culture and intangible heritage skills.

The tour began at the history museum of Dongluo village, where a guide explained the old farming tools and everyday use items on display. Through these objects, the students gained a deeper appreciation of the village's more than 600 years of development.

Next, the group visited the Yunshu Study Base, which uses the village's unique duotian, or raised-field, landscape to offer educational programs on farming culture, nature observation and hands-on activities.

Walking through the fields, the children experienced the wisdom of traditional water-town farming and duotian cultivation techniques, bringing their textbook knowledge to life in the real rural landscape.

A highlight of the tour was the experience of intangible cultural heritage. The students were captivated by the delicate craftsmanship of sugar figurine making, demonstrated by a local heritage inheritor.

Under the instructors' guidance, they also made paper-cut butterfly decorations, learning the subtle art of traditional paper cutting.

Dongluo village has leveraged its unique assets to build a study tour program that blends farming experiences, intangible heritage crafts and ecological sightseeing, while also developing tailored educational courses.
