The first Starch Derivatives Innovation Symposium took place on Dec 29 in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, in a bid to accelerate the high-quality development of city's new food industry.
The symposium was jointly held by Jiangnan University, the Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China, as well as the Special Medical Food Research Institute under the National Innovation Center par Excellence.
Starch, an important ingredient in food, plays a crucial role in the development and application of its derivatives in the industry for food for special medical purposes.
The Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone is serving as the primary area for Taixing's development of the new food industry.
With dedicated efforts in the directions of nutritional supplementation, physiotherapy and food for special medical purposes, the zone is striving to build an influential future food and health industry mecca at home and abroad.
Plans are released for the zone and its resident enterprises to strengthen communication and coordination in areas such as product research and development, platform co-construction and technical cooperation, jointly fostering the high-quality development of the new food industry.
