A weekend carnival at Qixiang village in Huangqiao town, located in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, attracted the participation of over 20 young people on March 9 from the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone.
A 5-kilometer hike immersed the youngsters in the wonders of nature. Environmental volunteers explained the connection between ecological protection and industrial green transformation along the way, enabling the walkers to appreciate the collaborative process.

"The weekend carnival is an innovative practice for building a youth friendly city in the development zone," said Cui Zhen, deputy director of the zone's management committee.
"We will actively launch themed activities in the future, allowing young people to perceive industry opportunities through interactions and enabling enterprises to discover cooperation opportunities through communications," Cui added.
Statistics showed that the zone recruited 23 national-level talent and added 31 science and technology innovation projects in 2024.
The regularly held innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, talent salons and weekend carnivals are effective. They form a matrix to build a full chain ecosystem involving talent introduction, nurturing and retention, helping young people to transform from being participants to builders.
