Through diverse measures, the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone in Taixing, Jiangsu province, has successfully reduced its previous over-reliance on coal and made significant strides towards green development.
Entering the zone, rows of deep blue photovoltaic panels are visible on the rooftops of factory buildings. As of the first half of this year, the rooftop photovoltaic installed capacity of enterprises in the zone has reached 27.05 MW, with annual power generation exceeding 27.54 million kWh. The utilization rate of clean energy has risen to 96.3 percent.

Under pressure to control energy intensity, the zone has encouraged enterprises to reduce carbon emissions by purchasing green electricity.
At present, seven key energy consuming enterprises have signed annual contracts to purchase green electricity. They will purchase 48 million kilowatt hours of green electricity throughout the year, which is equivalent to 6,000 metric tons of standard coal after coefficient conversion.
The zone has also built an online monitoring platform for key energy consuming enterprises, which implements real-time monitoring and intelligent control of energy consumption data.
