Sichuan Changhong New Energy Technology announced that its subsidiary, Jiangsu Sunpower, plans to invest 287 million yuan ($42.76 million) in a new 21700 full-tab lithium battery production line to further expand its production capacity.
Jiangsu Sunpower is located in the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone, Taixing, Jiangsu province. The company is dedicated to providing professional power battery solutions.
The project plans to complete the factory’s purification and decoration work and move in the equipment by the end of December, then finish equipment installation and commissioning by the end of March.
After the project has been completed, it is expected to produce about 57 million units of 21700 full tab lithium batteries per year.
Due to the high production process threshold of full tab batteries and the strict requirements for equipment accuracy and process control, Jiangsu Sunpower will accelerate the research and development of high-capacity products with capacities such as 5.5Ah and 6Ah based on the main models 21700-4000 and 21700-5000.
The company invested 283 million yuan to upgrade its 26700 battery production line with flexible, intelligent manufacturing technology and a complete set of production equipment.
