A number of manufacturers in Taixing, a county-level city administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, are implementing energy-saving and carbon reduction projects to improve energy efficiency.
In the Taixing Economic Development Zone, a steam utilization and improvement project by SP Chemicals (Taixing) Co Ltd has achieved results, with the capacity to reduce 45,000 metric tons of standard coal per year.

The Taixing government invited experts to conduct special assessments on 43 key energy consuming enterprises, which then implemented over 100 green transformation projects. After their transformation, up to 260,000 tons of standard coal per year can be reduced.
"Experts have identified three projects that can be transformed, which can save an estimated 20,000 tons of standard coal," said Zhang Jinfei, a manager of Taixing Chemical Limited Company of Hongbaoli Group.
In 2022, Taixing released a three-year action plan (2022-24) for the development of a green model city. It has set up a special fund of 40 million yuan ($5.82 million) for the green transformation of manufacturers.
