The umami flavors of Taizhou in Jiangsu province are enchanting an increasing number of diners as the city strives to become a new hub for the deep processing of agricultural and related foods and the pre-made food industry in the Yangtze River Delta.
Since the start of this year, the two industries have shown strong development momentum, with 38 projects underway with a combined investment of 11.56 billion yuan ($1.61 billion). Nearly 70 percent of the ongoing projects will be completed and put into operation in the second half of this year.
The Laobanzhai-labeled aviation food processing plant, being built in the Xinghua Economic Development Zone, has begun to take shape.
"After the completion of the first phase, it will produce 18,000 metric tons of frozen cooked noodles, 9,000 tons of Braised String Bean with Noodles, and 9,000 tons of sun dried noodles annually," said Song Kejie, chief engineer on the project.

Elsewhere, Taixing Agricultural Products Processing Park has collaborated with the Institute of Food Science and Technology under the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences to co-establish an innovation research institute for the processing of agricultural products.
Four academicians led 10 innovative research and development teams, boosting innovation in the park.
Technology has breathed new life into Taizhou's traditional craftsmanship. The traditional art of making fish balls has been preserved and improved in the standardized sterile workshop of Jiangsu Qingshuiyuan Food Technology. The company has developed several new fish ball flavors and made them available to more customers through cold chain logistics.
