During the just-concluded Spring Festival holiday, the average number of tourists received per day and the average amount of tourist consumption in the monitored cultural and tourism venues in Taizhou, Jiangsu province, increased by 22.43 percent and 20.46 percent, respectively, from last year's holiday.
Major scenic spots in the city integrated traditional Chinese New Year customs, cultural arts, and favorable discounts, creating vibrant Chinese New Year consumption scenes.
In the Fengcheng River Scenic Area, five costumed performers based on the five Chinese blessings — happiness (fu), prosperity (lu), longevity (shou), fortune (xi) and wealth (cai) appeared in the crowd, distributing red envelopes non-stop.

The all-day carnival lit up the whole city. During the day, folk performances were staged in rotation. In the night, folk artists performed the traditional datiehua (molten iron fireworks) show at Sanshui Bay, while the drone fleet matched well with the lights at Wanghai Pavilion.
The districts and county-level cities administered by Taizhou also showed exciting folk activities. On the afternoon of Feb 22, the folk parade, grouped into segments such as the twelve Chinese zodiac signs and heavenly troops and generals marched through the streets of Jingjiang. Actors performed while walking, interacted with locals and tourists, took photos, and distributed candy.

The flavor of Spring Festival also lingers between books and cultural relics. The Taizhou Library's activities like a themed activity based on Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) clothing allowed locals and tourists to experience a Chinese New Year rich with cultural heritage, appreciate folk customs, and learn more skills.
