Xinghua city, administered by Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province, has taken active moves to cultivate the livestreaming skills of local farmers, and held a launching ceremony for this initiative on June 27.

Adhering to a 2021 provincial-level action plan, the city is promoting its digital rural development by enhancing the digital literacy of local farmers. To date, the action has trained an estimated 40,000 farmers and conducted 134 livestreaming activities.

During the ceremony, a cooperative agreement was signed between the Jiangsu Internet Association and the Xinghua online celebrity union to upgrade the digital sales model of Xinghua's agricultural products.

Boasting rich agricultural, cultural and tourism resources and a comprehensive e-commerce industry chain, Xinghua established five e-commerce Party unions in 2022. These unions help farmers to sell their featured agricultural products, with a revenue reaching over 17 million yuan ($2.35 million).
